Kaunda men birched [sic]
Five officials of Mr Kenneth Kaunda's United National Independence Party were given 18 strokes of the cane and gaoled yesterday by a judge in white-ruled Northern Rhodesia. The government had blamed them for the spreading revolt in the northern provinces. Passing sentence the judge said "The accused are to be regarded as potential murderers". The prison sentences range from three to five years.
