Man To Have Second Dose Of The Cane

TEN strokes of the rattan and six months' rigorous imprisonment plus six months' police supervision was inflicted on a Chinese, See Seck Leng, in the Singapore Second Court yesterday.

He pleaded guilty to attempting to steal a woman's handbag from her while she was waiting with her sister for a bus at North Bridge Road on Tuesday morning.

The woman was a Mrs. Perreau.

Accused was stated to have two previous convictions; one for which he was ordered a whipping.
