Judge confirms cane for two
The Supreme Court has confirmed a sentence of nine strokes of the cane for each of the two men who attacked a 50-year-old Navua watchman in May.
But it set free a third man who shared gaol sentences with them for the same offence.
Navua has gaoled Niko Naitini (26), clerk of Navua, Simione Raivalitia (21), glass cutter, of Mead Road, Suva, and Kiniviliame Canaikawakawa, unemployed, of Namaka, Nadi, for two years and recommended that each receive nine strokes of the cane.
The court found they broke into a GuiliFouche (Fiji) Ltd toolshed, stole property worth $259, and grievously harmed Kaminieli Matadradra, who was then working for the company at Deuba.
