News from Paphos
Georgios Kleanthous, 18, of Nikoklia, Charalambos Nicolaon, 15, of Kissonergha, Neoptolemos Ioannou, 16, of Kelokedara, and Andreas Zavros, 15, of Ktima, all of the Paphos College, were today found guilty of taking part in a riot and in an unlawful assembly on 2nd of April last, and were sentenced by Special Judge Mr Ellison, the first accused to 18 months imprisonment for the first count, and to 3 months imprisonment for the second, the second to receive 10 strokes with a cane and to 3 months imprisonment for the first count and to 1 month imprisonment for the second, the third to 6 months imprisonment for the first count and to 1 month imprisonment for the second, and the fourth to receive 10 strokes with a cane and to 1 month's imprisonment for the first count and to 2 weeks imprisonment for the second count.
The sentences for the first and second count will run concurrently.
Andreas Charalambous, 17, of Emba, student of the Paphos Gymnasium who was a co-accused, was discharged.
