Juvenile gets 4 strokes for stabbing neighbour with screw driver

A 16 year old juvenile has been slapped with four strokes and two year suspended jail term for stabbing his neighbour at a borehole.
The boy pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before Hwange Regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga.
The magistrate convicted and sentenced him to receive four strokes of the rattan cane.
He was also sentenced to two years suspended for five on condition of good behaviour.
The court heard that on September 23 this year the complainant was at a borehole at 10am in Mswazi area with his young brother when the boy arrived holding a catapult.
The boy was asked by the complainant as to why he had beaten his young brother the previous day.
The boy advanced towards the complainant and drew a screwdriver from the right pocket of his trousers before stabbing the complainant once on the left side of the ribs.
The complainant sustained a deep cut on the left side on the ribs and was taken to Binga hospital for medical treatment.
A report made to the police led to the boy's arrest.
