All systems go at NSD

ROSSTON -- All systems are go for the Nevada School District so far.

This is what Nevada Principal Michael Odom told the Nevada School Board at its June meeting Thursday.

Clarifications were approved for the student handbook. One concerns the dress code. McAfee said the Arkansas Legislature requires all clothing to be non-transparent and white clothing not show undergarments. No athletic or sweat suits will be allowed and no clothing can have holes above the knee. Female students wearing leggings must also wear knee-length skirts. He said there will be designated "reward days" where students will be allowed to wear some clothing with athletic logo.

The district added corporal punishment to its policy. Lunch detention has been used, but there have been problems with how many days some students served in detention before the information reached the office. Now, the office is to be notified sooner where detention is concerned.
